Much has been received, in that surely, much has been given.
As we are in the one year mark at the unbelievable loss of this magnificent talent, Michael Joseph Jackson, the Singer, the Dancer, the Songwriter, this incredible human being and humanitarian, born August 29, 1958 in Gary, Indiana. No matter who or where you are in this world...Michael Jackson's music, soul, electrifying dance moves & human spirit, without question, has touched many hearts, spanning all ages, young & old...and to those not yet born. That is what's so amazing about why so many, the world over, call him 'the greatest entertainer that ever lived'.

Oceanlight Records celebrates the wonders of this man's talents and the tapestry of his illustrious music career. To those of us who were blessed enough to be there at the beginning stage of Michael Jackson and his brothers, Jermaine, Tito, Marlon, Jackie & Michael, all who made up this legendary brothers group, the Jackson Five and each of us that had our little holiday radio gifts waiting for us under the Christmas tree and for those of us who didn't, still somehow heard the breakthrough hit-making songs, when their first Motown single, 'I Want You Back' first hit the airwaves and the streets, will know how thrilling it was to hear this unheard of explosive young, soulful voice, along with his brothers, bursting with hit after radio hit.

The wonderful memories of our young lives, for those us coming from Michael's generation, let us count the days. To many, the phenomenon of the Jackson Five, became an extension of our own family lives. Growing up with the Jackson Five's music, meant more to us than them making the top pop charts, but even more important than that; their music was very much woven into many cultures. You could not go to a teenage or any dance party without playing at least one Jackson Five hit record on your turntable. At some parties, it was all Jackson Five music. All we knew were, the more, the better. It was inevitable and a party staple, pure and simple, a way of life in many households across the U.S.A. Michael on lead vocals, and his range, power and soul, for such a young energetic lad, was just out of this world. He surely was an old soul, as he himself would reflect back on, in his treasured autobiographical MOONWALK Book.

Though Michael Jackson came into this world singing long before the Jackson Five's smash radio debut, it was this track, 'I Want You Back', that started it all for him and his brothers, where Motown Records Founder Impresario Berry Gordy, first introduced the Jackson Five to the entire world. It was an incredible and magical time, but most of all, rare. Who would have thought in 1969, we'd ever hear such young talent, well beyond his years, with the soaring vocal soul and dance moves of James Brown and Jackie Wilson all wrapped up in this one little kid. Rare was this type of phenomenon, with the likes of young Frankie Lymon, Little Anthony, to name a few and then comes along on the scene, little Michael Jackson, who has been setting the world on fire ever since the age of 5 years old, to making ‘Thriller’, the greatest selling album of all times, to this day.

Through the years leading up to 'Thriller',  and the Jackson Five, becoming the ‘Jacksons’, adding the youngest brother Randy to the group, there can be no doubt that Parents Katherine and Joe Jackson and entire Jackson Clan, basked in the long, hard and well-earned glory of all of their musical achievements and becoming America's top musical Family dynasty. As with Michael's solo career coming into bloom in the 70’s and 80’s, it marked a new chapter in his career and life. Simply Michael Jackson grew up and we happily grew up with him. His music at the early stages of his solo career always hinted, that as great as it was, that something bigger was just around the corner. From 'Ben' to 'Got to Be There' solo tracks, which were even earlier than the take-off of his yet officially announced solo career, one could hear the depth of his soul and imagination soaring all at the same time. It was all in his vocal delivery, if you listen closely, you hear every tembre of his voice and feeling, pointing towards the future, while at the same time, giving it all that he's got in the moment. This is why Michael Jackson's music will live on forever. It was not just having a true gift of song, but also a gift of sharing human stage moments of life that Michael was always able to musically communicate to so many in the most natural of ways. Always pushing the limits of his glorious God given talents. So we celebrate life, magic & artistry of the great Michael Jackson, knowing that the Jackson Five hits 'ABC', 'I’ll Be There', 'Stop The Love You Save', 'Dancing Machine' & so many others with his brothers propelled him to the multi-grammy winning solo chart-toppers of Michael’s career...from the multi-million-selling hits from his solo ‘Off The Wall’ to 'Thriller', 'Dangerous', 'HIStory', & 'Invincible' albums, just to name a few. The ground-breaking music videos from 'Thriller' to 'Beat It', became classics on MTV and a major part of music video history. The world will also never forget his 'live' performance at Motown's 25th Anniversary Celebration, with Michael performing 'Billie Jean'. It is said that smooth Dance Legend, Fred Astaire called Michael the next day to just say simply, 'Wow'! And that's what we at Oceanlight Records will always say 'Wow'!

We Thank You, Michael and will always love You.
You were truly the KING Of POP.

Who is to look back and say that our time and tapestry of life on this earth is measured in days, weeks, months or years? No one knows. But one thing is for sure, that Michael Jackson made every moment of his life and 'a beyond soaring career' count...from a very young age to the last years of his life, he had a purpose and road that he somehow knew since birth., that he was meant to travel on. Truly an Artist with extraordinary gifts such as this, Michael Jackson's spirit and endless vast music for all, lives on forever.
